Saturday Night Live (often called SNL) is a long-running American comedy show that first aired in 1975. The series is filmed live every Saturday night and is known for its short comedy sketches, political satire, parody commercials, and musical performances. Each episode features a guest host—usually a famous actor, musician, or comedian—who appears in sketches with the cast. The show also includes a musical guest who performs live. One of SNL’s most popular segments is “Weekend Update,” a fake news show that humorously comments on current events and politics.
